Who We Are
The James Cook University Medical Students' Association (JCUMSA) is the peak representative organisation for medical students at James Cook University. We represent over 1,000 full-time medical students across all six year levels of the undergraduate MBBS course.
Founded in 2000 alongside the university's first offering of the bachelor degree program, JCUMSA has grown from a fledgling society into a vibrant organisation with over fifty elected committee members.
We are committed to supporting JCU medical students of all backgrounds, each with their own needs, concerns, and aspirations. Our work spans education and advocacy, student wellbeing, community engagement, and connecting students with our valued partners.

Local
Working directly with the JCU medical school on assessment standards, student feedback, and continuous improvements to our medical course.

Collaborating with the Queensland Medical Students Council (QLDMSC) on internship pathways and advocating during state elections.
National
Representing JCU students at Australian Medical Students Association (AMSA) National Council on issues affecting medical students nationwide.
